Asin was born within Kerala by her Malayalam-speaking family that comprises Joseph, the businessman father and the doctor Dr. Seline who is a physician in Ernakulam. Asin went to Naval Public School and then after completing her Matriculation at Cochin she was enrolled to the St. Theresa's High School. She was awarded the higher Secondary School Certificate and enrolled in St. Theresa's College in an attempt to pursue studies in the Arts Faculty. When she graduated with a B.A. English Literature in the U.S., she helped her father with his business. she speaks a variety of languages including Malyalam, Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Sanskrit, English, French, and is possibly the only Indian actress who has a Blogspot in French. She has a vast collection of literature and loves reading.
